Inspired by the calligraphy of the past and a decades-long career creating hand-lettered designs and tattoos, BJ Betts partnered with Tattoo Smart to bring you the Penmanship brush sets. Each of the 414 brushes in the Penmanship set were painstakingly crafted and perfected to enable you to create the most versatile lettering tattoos and to find your own hand lettered design style digitally. The natural media brushes in the Penmanship set replicate vintage ink and brush pens in a digital format. BJ also provided 7 different lettering grid stamps and repeater brushes to help you lay out your digital lettering designs on their own, or add lettering to other tattoo designs. These guides are also invaluable tools to help you practice the shape and structure of your letter compositions.In addition to the natural media brushes in the Penmanship set, BJ also included 5 stamp alphabets to provide a visual reference to how the Penmanship brushes can be used to create different letter options, to layout different tattoo design options, and to provide a template for practicing letter composition. The Script letter stamps are drawn in BJ Betts’ classic script style, with more and less ornate individual letter options, perfect for any script tattoo design. Drawing with the round tip brushes in the brush set, the Round letter stamps are a less formal Script style while still maintaining the hand-drawn look of lettering tattoos. As the name suggests, the Aggro letter stamps are more aggressively drawn using sharp angles and a scratchier style. The Oval letter stamps provide an excellent simple letter design with minimal flourish. Finally, the Chisel stamps combine a slightly more ornate style with a chisel-tip pen look.

Henry Lewis, known for his illustrative and Neo-Japanese tattoo designs, created this set of skeleton and Grim Reaper stamps for Procreate and Clip Studio Paint. Henry’s set features both complete grim reaper designs, as well as the separate skeleton components to quickly draft your own. Killian Moon created these skulls, female and male heads, and full-body proportion guides as an essential part of your digital toolkit. Understanding proportion is a fundamental skill for any figure drawing, but particularly for faces. Based on the ideal proportions developed by Andrew Loomis, one of the great drawing instructors of the 20th century, Killian developed this set of digital construction tools. Like all Tattoo Smart stamp sets, these brushes are designed to compliment the workflow of any artist and be useful for projects of all sizes, allowing enough flexibility to add your own style to the design.In addition to the male and female head proportion guides, Killian included stencil-ready skulls from different perspectives and with variations on jaw position. This brush set was created with the intention of having everything you need to render a henna or lace style design from start to finish. It’s great for drafting up quick ideas and concepts for your clients in minutes. With a little practice, you could easily create a stencil-ready line drawing with these brushes alone. This set includes a single and a double liner, template stamps of some common henna shapes that will get your design started including a paisley, some leaf shaped center pieces, and some mandala-esque flower stamps. From there, you get into the repetitive, linear pattern work that the eye instantly recognizes as the henna aesthetic. There is a multitude of these that make up the bulk of the set, largely inspired by nature, these patterns mimic various leaves, petals, ferns, peacock feathers etc. Ornamental, jewelry and chandelier inspired imagery are also included. There is even a brush that rapidly creates the “hanging beads” you often see at the bottom of underboob tattoos. Finally, there are several filler pattern brushes for blocking in larger areas, perfect for the “fishnet” areas in lace designs as well as henna.All of the brushes in this set make great use of Procreate's snap to line feature (holding your Apple Pencil to the screen for a couple of seconds after the line is done snaps it perfectly straight).  That feature combines with these brushes to accurately recreate the “stacked rows of patterns” look that henna designs often contain, and the brushes all work well on curves too.
