Learning to design your tattoos on the computer can be a daunting task. For the uninitiated, design software can appear overwhelming and frustrating. Let tattooer Russ Abbott be your guide through the very basics of digital tattoo design in this 30 minute crash course. Manga Studio 101 is where you will quickly develop the skills needed to put your Wacom Cintiq Pen Display to use in your studio. Topics covered include file creation- with tips on resolution and paper size, a tour of the most useful pencils, pens, and brushes for tattooers, a look at the layers palette and it’s function, resizing for stenciling, and a unique process for quickly adding color to a value study. Using just the techniques in this short video, you will be creating awesome digital designs immediately.

Note: While it is not necessary to have an expensive pen display such as the Wacom Cintiq 24HD like I used in this video, I highly recommend that you upgrade as soon as you have the confidence and the budget. I have seen many tattoo artists get discouraged by going with budget models like the Intuos series.
