123 FACIAL EXPRESSION ELEMENTS INCLUDING:
* 30 eye expression stamps, with left and right variations
* 16 eyebrow shapes
* 24 centered and side view animal noses
* 20 centered and side view human noses
* 22 mouths
* 11 animal ears
To help you with drafting and design fundamentals, Frank also included a number of stamps, as well as his eBook, in this toolkit:
* Fundamentals of Character Design eBook.
* Under drawing, line drawing, and full value drawing of 3 animals, a human face, and an object, so you can see his design process
* 11 Facial construction line templates so you can vary the direction your character is looking in and place/modify the stamps accordingly
You know those kids that lived for Saturday morning cartoons and always carried a notebook to doodle characters? That was Frank LaNatra, except he never grew out of it.
A professionally trained illustrator and animator, it wasn’t long after he learned how to tattoo that Frank decided to merge his passion for illustration with his tattoo craft.
I wanted to create my own characters and my own worlds while telling my clients stories. My goal was to have each piece I design look like a still from a Pixar film. I wanted each character I design to have strong expressions and be able to covey the characters’ emotions to the viewer.
Through his seminar and eBook, Frank has spent years sharing his knowledge with the tattoo community, teaching tattooers to understand the complex subtlety of facial movements and how it translates to dynamic emotional expressions.
When he began to design this stamp set, Frank wanted to give artists a digital toolkit to take their character design to the next level. The set contains all of the facial elements you need to create nearly infinite variations: eyes, eyebrows, noses, mouths, as well as ears. Each is labeled with an emotion, so you can test combinations to zero in on exactly the expression you want your character to convey, playing with the subtleties that give depth. For example, how does it change the illustration as you switch between a shocked + surprised eye combination versus a shocked + upset combination?
